SYNOPSIS
A high school student, Natsuo Fujii has an unrequited love for his teacher named Tachibana Hina. To move on from his feelings, he decided to do a blind date with his friends in a karaoke place. There he met a girl named Rui . Ignorant girl who seemed just go along on the blind date. Feeling bored, Rui finally invited Natsuo to go for a short walk. Surprisingly, Rui suddenly invited Natsuo to go to his house to be able to have sex together. Rui wanted to do this not because she likes Natsuo, but only wanted to know what it was like to have sex. Natsuo then hesitantly agreed to Rui's request in the hope that he could forget Tachibana Hina from his life.
After that, Natsuo was faced with a new problem, his father remarried a woman who had 2 daughters. Natsuo was very surprised to know that the first child of the woman his father had married turned out to be the teacher he had loved, Tachibana Hina. Then the second child of the woman his father married turned out to be a random girl who just have sex with him before, Tachibana Rui. So, This is how the love story between these brother and his sisters begins.

VISUAL
I don't know, but it seems that Diomedea is more suitable to work on genre like this than making fantasy-style anime, thriller, or horror genre which certainly consumes more motion frames and effects. The design characters, background, and effects that are used, no ones will judge it. Why I'm saying that? Because romance anime doesn't require excessive fancy visual arts so that viewers can understand the story, just do it with a good story and background music that supports the storyline. Even though there is no problem with the frame of the character movement, oddly enough Diomedea still missed some of the other motion parts; this time in the background part. It is very clear that some frame-rates are still laggy when highlighting background movements that have no character in the visual. At first glance I think something is wrong with my PC, but it seems that the image created by the staff animator does look like a frame lacks. So when the frame is put together, the frame-rate appears that looks like the fractures. I can forgive that one, because it doesn't disturb the storyline in the main frame. In addition, of course because the genre of anime like this does not require a lot of excessive motion so that its story understandable. Unlike the other diomedea's animes, that was completely destroyed because of its visual.

MUSIC
Regardless of how deep the song is in the opening of this anime. I still feel that there is something missing in the background music part. I rather compared this anime BGM to a similar genre anime, namely Kuzu no Honkai.
Anime Kuzu no Honkai uses acoustic music when there are important dialogues or moments of sadness occur on the character. The acoustic music was taken from the ending song, which is Sayuri's song entitled Heikousen. Decision making was quite good because the ending song turned out to be very hit with the main storyline. Then Kuzu no Honkai also often uses the BGM electro orchestra when the dialogue begins to have quite a loud tone of voice. This has a very important influence on the delivery of the story.
Domestic na Kanojo also took the theme song from the opening song anime. But the BGM used this time uses more piano instruments. This does not have enough impact on the story because often the music produced by the piano is easily forgotten in the head. It looks like Diomedea has no experience in building music that can support an anime story.

CHARACTERS
There may be many characters, but these three characters are the core of the story.

1. Natsuo Fujii

Unlike Kuzu no Honkai whose main point of view is female, anime Domestic na Kanojo uses a male perspective. The main character, Natsuo Fujii, has an unrequited love feeling at Tachibana Hina even before they have brother-sister relations. Natsuo has a very compelling nature, he doesn't want to give up on his love feelings and doesn't want to move his feelings to other women around him. Keep trying to break through the big wall sister. Continue to force until his love is finally returned by Tachibana Hina. Really bad boy.

2. Tachibana Rui
If you want to attract attention, then start from the character that can be received by the audience. At the first time, I did not have any interest in Tachibana Rui's character at all. It's really just like a random people who we might not see again in the next episode. Then everything changed when their parents finally got married. Surprisingly enough, knowing the person he fuck will become his own sister. Rui doing that before not because she want it, she just want to know the feelings of liking.
As the episode progressed, this ignorant characters who were not good at social interacting began to often talk with Natsuo when their brotherhood was getting closer. Rui who initially didn't care began to feel something was wrong with her, for some reason she began to feel feelings of jealousy. The trigger is of course because he often sees Natsuo being approached by other girls. I said to myself "Horra, omae no oniichan is closest to another girl. Do darou? Omae no Kimochi? Sabishii? Datte, at first you just ignored him. "
The design of Rui's character is actually nothing too interesting, that's because I prefer characters who have long or shoulder length hair. What makes Rui's character interesting is his personality. Rui often shows a light tsundere and gives a piercing satire if she is jealous to see Natsuo being approached by another girl. The question that is often asked by Natsuo to Rui is often answered by using tsukkomi which is very humorous. It is very like a Japanese-style comedian where one gives a statement and the other answers with the tsukkomi.

3. Tachibana Hina
Then we proceed to the character of oneechan and sensei, Tachibana Hina. The older sister who gives idealism as the right thing. Brother should not have feelings of mutual liking to his sister as the opposite sex. Because ultimately keeping secrets from parents about their relationship is a difficult thing to do. After Natsuo repeatedly stated that he liked Hina since a long time, finally the oneechan had melted feelings too. Oneechan was jealous when she saw Natsuo and Rui kissing. Tachibana Hina's words had previously been defeated by her own feelings. Tachibana Hina then returned her feelings by stating that she also liked Natsuo.

STORY
"The light version of Kuzu no Honkai?" That was the first word appeared in my head when I first watched this anime. The light version I mean is an intimate scene that might be far less than Kuzu no Honkai. The story of this prohibited relationship between stepbrothers may not be all people can accept it. So that maybe only a few people want to continue watching this anime. Honestly, who wants to watch love stories between these step siblings? But that is indeed the romance that this story tries to raise. Trying to put ourselves if we are in the same position as them.

I am happy that every episode of Domestic na Kanojo always have something that happens. The story also not only monotonous in the love relationship between these step siblings, but also discussing other characters like Natsuo's club friends.
Even though they have become step sibling, but it's rarely heard between Natsuo and Rui Hina calls like "Oneechan, Oniichan, or Imouto". This is of course to make their love is not blocked by Kyoudai's wall. They managed to behave like brother and sister in general despite keeping forbidden love.
Since episode 9 went on, when Hina-sensei replied to Natsuo's feelings by saying that she also liked him, for some reason I started to hate their relationship. Exactly after Hina-sensei moved from home, and looked for a new apartment. I felt that Hina-sensei should have accepted Natsuo's feelings but only for a moment, and requested that Natsuo move on his feelings from her with the last kiss. But Hina-sensei was even defeated by her own feelings. In his new apartment, Hina-sensei was more free to meet Natsuo. I feel "where did the idealism of adults that I dreamed from on few episodes before, Hina-sensei changed like an unstable teenager who is blinded by her own feelings, her idealism as an adult has vanished, and I hate it". Even though from the start the wrong thing was Natsuo who kept insisting Hina-sensei's love be returned to him. That's where I started turning around supporting Tachibana Rui as playing heroine.
The ending in episode 12 in my opinion is correct. If the relationship between Natsuo and Hina-sensei continues I don't know how it will really be acceptable to the audience.
Leave the past and start moving forward. Hina-sensei who decided to separate far from Natsuo finally had its own impact. Natsuo finally slowly can move on and try to pursue his dream as a novelist. The title of the novel "Sayonara" written by Natsuo might be a sign for Natsuo to start opening his heart to the people around him. With an ending that luckily isn't a cliffhanger. I appreciate the story from Domestic na Kanojo. So, I not expecting season 2 in the future.

OVERALL
I feel a little disappointed, this anime from the initial episode to the end has a very complex story. But why does this anime have to be adapted by Diomedea? Is it because there is a Domestic word and it sounds like Diomedea's word? Or because Diomedea was fighting desperately to adapt it from another studio? Even though I'm really hoping that this anime will use the same studio as the anime that adapted the Kuzu no Honkai, Lerche. Kuzu no Honkai has excellent character development, even each characters story have been told. In the hands of Diomedea, this good story is a shame to be wasted, there are so many potentials to be utilized properly. I just hope Diomedea can learn from the past, and keep trying to find the right formula for their anime in the future.

Does my review look more supportive to Tachibana Rui? Yes, I admit that.
